Hi Friends.
In this edition, I want to talk about:
How to Crush it on Twitter by @david_perell and @mkobach
100+ side projects, working with Nathan Latka, Product Hunt's Maker of the Year 2016 with Mubs
Talking to Taylor Swift’s first manager, Rick Barker
How to crush it on Twitter by David Perell and Matthew Kobach
Last week I made some notes for myself. Thought some of you could use it too :)
Novelty - Why is VC twitter so effective? You make money by having ideas other people don't have. VCs, in their profession, are rewarded for being contrarians. On Twitter, you should be just contrarian enough to give people insights but not so much that you repel people. For example, the idea of Uber - and app for taxis, was just contrarian enough for early users to check it out. What is it that you know that others don't?
Compression - Twitter rewards you for compressing big ideas into small spaces. Limit your posts to no more than 2 clickable text - it includes tagging people. Also, fewer tags make your tweets easier to read. No hashtags.
Simplicity - People don't read Twitter, they browse it. Your first sentence is the hook that ensures people stay. Give them the context in the first line, then explain. Bullet points make your tweets easier to navigate.
Engage - Reply to famous people with thoughtful comments relevant to the conversation - facts, thoughts, quotes.
Read - To write better, read great writers. To tweet better, read great tweets. Browsing the likes of people you admire is a good way to get an idea of what resonates with them.
Talk - Twitter DMs are the dark matter of the internet. The conversations that happen there are 80% of what makes Twitter great. Use it to make opportunities for yourself.

Talking to Taylor Swift’s first manager, Rick Barker
I can’t believe it really happened :D
Coincidentally, Rick shared, in one of his emails, how he went from 600 to 7000 followers almost overnight on Tiktok. I immediately replied to it offering some advice and the next day, we jumped on a zoom call :) Here are 2 things he taught me that day.
